How will AI Reshape the Future
In a world where cars are learning to drive and your phone can understand when you speak (well, not all the time..), it is more important than ever to understand what the widespread use of AI means for us in terms of business and as consumers. In order to do so, we brought five speakers at the forefront of South African Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning together, which culminated in a very educational event.
The hype in the around artificial intelligence is real. We first confronted expectations with reality, explaining the current state of artificial intelligence hand how it is far from the Singularity (machines gaining consciousness and shooting Anthony Hopkins in the back of the head..) Another point of interest was how tech giants (Google, Amazon, Apple, etc.) interact with the development of artificial intelligence, how through a combination of proprietary work and open source platforms small data science companies can stand on the shoulders of giants and stay relevant. The conversation took a philosophical turn when we evoked the possibility of machines and machine intelligence taking over the majority of human jobs. This led us to delve into the ethics and responsibility we all have in the legislation of AI. We invite you to watch the event video linked below for a detailed insight into these complex questions.
